I suppose there are two ways of seeing this.
You may see a powerful, commanding intelligent man – perhaps even Presidential.
Or you may see an abrasive know-it-all.

The reunification fo Germany brought prosperity and capitalism to East Germany, along with opportunity for citizens oppressed for decades. It also resulted in a stronger, more powerful economy for the now larger country of Germany.
